In the opening game of Round 18, Surfside Waves hosted Drysdale last Friday night and were defeated by the visitors 2-0. As a result, Drysdale knocked the Waves out of Top 4 contention, heading into this weekend’s Finals’ series. Olivia Smith made sure Drysdale secured the three points with her goal, while Surfside gave Drysdale the honor of doubling its lead by scoring an own goal.

The top two sides Kardinia and Deakin Ducks met at Kardinia College and the Ducks ended up thrashing Kardinia 6-0. Madeleine Lee Gow scored a brace to be one goal shy of Serena Clapp’s Golden Boot Award while Hannah Gordon followed up with a double of her own. Mollie Cooper and Andrea Thornton both scored singles apiece for the tertiary students.

Barwon qualified for the Top 4 after the Blue and Whites defeated Geelong 5-0 at Grovedale Reserve. Michaela Buchanan opened the scoring for Barwon and added a second goal later in the game. Talia Moston, Ruby Mccormack and Jane Newbery all scored singles apiece to finish off Barwon’s regular season with a thumping win over the competition wooden spooners.

Looking at this weekend’s Semi Finals, top placed Deakin Ducks will host 4th placed Barwon at the Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus, while 2nd placed Kardinia will take on 3rd placed Drysdale at Kardinia College in Bell Post Hill.
