NEWS: Expressions of interest sought for upcoming Summer Futsal and Social 7’s comps
EXPRESSIONS of interest are currently being sought for the upcoming Summer Futsal and Social 7’s competitions at the Leisuretime Sports Precinct and the Barwon Valley Activity Centre (BVAC).
Interested teams are being urged to formally register their interest for the upcoming leagues with Futsal Geelong/City of Greater Geelong by completing the Online Registration Form (see link below)
With a range of competitions, programs and social leagues available across various days and times at both venues.
The 2018-19 Summer season will be the first time the Geelong Social Seven’s leagues will be offered, following on from a successful eight-team Men’s open aged pilot competition, which is played on the new $2 million outdoor FIFA standard facility at the Leisuretime Sports Precinct, and participation in this new version of the game is expected to expand significantly.
Apart from multiple Men’s Senior divisions, there are expected to be other categories such as Women’s, Men’s Over 35’s as well as some junior age groups leagues also proposed to be offered during the summer season.
The Futsal Geelong Summer League this year is in its 10th year and has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2008 in which 11 teams took part, the 2017-18 Summer league had over 250 teams playing futsal weekly across its Belmont & Bell Post Hill venues and is expected to again draw a lot of interest for the 2018-19 season.
The new seasons for the Geelong Social Seven’s are expected to commence mid-September and will conclude prior to Christmas.

Exciting new partnership with Just Play that gets individual players in the game
The team at Leisuretime and BVAC (who manage Futsal Geelong and Geelong Social Seven’s) has recently entered an exciting new partnership with Just Play, who work across the country in organising groups of individuals into teams to play in social sport competitions.
The 2018-19 partnership will be directly aligned to Futsal Geelong and Social Sevens Competitions at both BVAC and Leisuretime and will focus specifically on senior competitions (no juniors).
The idea being that people interested in playing futsal or social soccer, but don’t know other people to enter a team with will be placed together with others in similar situations to form a new team – Just Play will play the role of ‘team manager’ by providing the team uniforms and coordinating the planning for each game.
Just Play will be entering teams of individuals in these upcoming senior competitions:

Social Sevens (7-a-side outdoor synthetic) from September to December 2018:

Futsal (5-a-side indoor) from October 2018 to February 2019:
- Men’s
Barwon Valley Activity Centre
