In the end, Drysdale secured a 3-1 win courtesy of two goals by Shannon Daffy and a single from Louise Riley to maintain its top spot on the ladder.

Daffy has now scored 12 goals this year and finds herself in 4th spot on the Goalkickers’ chart, two behind teammate Serena Clapp who didn’t play against Geelong.

Second placed Deakin Ducks smashed second last placed Barwon Heads 7-0 at Village Park in Barwon Heads on Saturday. Current league Golden Boot Hannah Gordon netted a brace to take her season’s tally to 19 goals. She was ably assisted by Kim Ferguson, who also scored a double, and singles by Lena Mungenost, Anastasia Globa and Imogen Pratt.

Third placed Surf Coast consolidated its place in the top three, easily accounting for Kardinia College 3-1 at Banyul Warri Reserve in Torquay North. Francesca Ciuffetelli scored twice, while Lora Symonds also found the back of the net to help the Coasters secure a 3-1 win. Youngster Jaime Blackney was the lone scorer for the visitors.

In the final game, Barwon recorded a 3-0 forfeit win over Surfside Waves.

Following the completion of Round 10, Drysdale leads the pack on 28 points, two ahead of the reigning champions Deakin Ducks and five ahead of the third placed Surf Coast. Barwon brings up the top four on 18 points.
