NEWS: Upcoming seminar to assist club reps in addressing drug issues at their clubs

BENDIGO Bank’s ‘Clubs That Care’ Wellbeing Training will be holding a very special upcoming seminar for all community sporting clubs in Geelong, entitled “Dealing with illicit drug issues in your club”. To be held on Monday 29th May, at the Deakin Cats Community Education Centre at Simonds Stadium, this session is being conducted to support clubs understand how to deal with drug issues.

The starting time is 6.00pm and will go for approximately two hours. A light supper will be provided. It is to be conducted by Barwon Child Youth and Family with the support of Leisure Networks.In addition to the information provided we will also have some sample policies, procedures and role descriptions for participants.

At the seminar, club representatives will be able to learn about the following:

What to do if you suspect someone is using drugs?

Drug and Alcohol Services and how they can help?

Drug related issues - when is police involvement appropriate?

Developing an illicit drug policy and procedures to support action

Wellbeing Roles to support members when drugs are an issue

Defining future support needs for wellbeing in your club.
