NEWS: This year's Melbourne Victory MiniRoos Gala Day to be held in Torquay on August 20

THIS year’s Melbourne Victory MiniRoos Gala Day will be hosted by Surf Coast FC at its Banyul Warri Reserve in Torquay North on Sunday 20th of August.

The Gala Day is the one day in the football season when both the Northern and Southern MiniRoos Hubs come together and teams from each respective zonal Hub get an opportunity to play against a team from the other side of the region.

With the sheer magnitude of the day requiring additional pitches, the Coasters are working feverishly in conjunction with the Surf Coast Council to get extra playing space made available for the day. An adjoining AFL oval has already been booked for the day.

Replacing the Southern Hub event on Friday the 18th of August at Surfcoast SC and the Northern Hub event on the 20th of August at Geelong SC, the massive event is expected to attract just over 1,700 players from the U7s, U9s and U11s age groups. In total, it is expected that close to 5,000 players, parents and spectators will attend the Gala Day.

As part of the day’s proceedings, Melbourne Victory will host a special Presidents’ Lunch for all 21 Geelong Region member clubs with a prominent guest speaker to be announced. In addition to that, the Victory will co ordinate a series of football activities (i.e. inflatables, face painting, player autograph area, membership/souvenir shop etc).

Melbourne Victory will also set aside a special Hyundai A-League round for the Geelong region’s junior MiniRoos players to be allocated a total of 105 participant spots (which will include MiniRoos games, centre circle flag waving, mascots etc) as well as tickets allocated to clubs totaling around 600 tickets in all.

Details and fixtures will be sent out to participating clubs shortly.
