NEWS: New club FC Leopold kicking goals on and off the pitch

FC LEOPOLD is a vibrant new football club that has cause for celebration following some exciting achievements both on and off the pitch in recent weeks. Last week, the fledgling outer eastern suburbs club was featured on the front page of the weekly Bellarine Times newspaper.

FC Leopold president Mitch Vials proudly spoke about the club’s achievements in its inaugural year, highlighting the fact that more than 50 juniors were playing for the club across various age categories from U7s right up until U13s.

One of the reason for this success, claims Vials, has been the excellent collaboration that has been developed with the local Leopold Primary School, which has allowed the club’s MiniRoos players to train there.

“In what is just the beginning of our young club, we hope to build on a so far successful season and push on to bigger and better things,” Vials told the Bellarine Times reporter.

The Senior team, meanwhile, created history last weekend with its first ever victory in the Geelong Region Men’s Division 1 competition, defeating Lara United 4-2 in a Round 12 fixture at the Lara Recreation Reserve.

"It was a great feeling to finally get the win we have been working hard for and we will now be hoping that we can push on from this result and finish the season off strongly. It was a great performance from the boys and a very proud moment for myself and all involved at the club,” president Vials said after the game.

FC Leopold also ran a social event recently at the Leopold Sportsman’s Club, which is one of the club’s major foundation sponsors.

A large crowd attended the club’s first Trivia Night for a bit of fun and to raise some much needed funds, as well as to keep cultivating the awesome all-inclusive club culture that FC Leopold has become renowned for in its short existence.
