Rollers First Trail/Scrimmage for 2011

Over thirty-five players packed into the College Stadium where Head Coach Mick Conlon put them through a series of drills and shooting games before the scrimmages started.

Former NBL Rollers big man Jonathan Harris arrived wearing his old school NBL Rollers training singlet which he admitted did need some dusting off prior to throwing it on.

He also described the turnout as "one of the best ever," even when he was younger.

"It was tremendous to have the likes of Jonathan (Harris) here tonight," Conlon said.

Rollers manager Big Joe Tertzakian agreed.

"Absolutely, to have Johnny come and wear his old school Rollers training singlet was something special.  Alot of people really got behind the Rollers when they were around, plus alot of fond memories.  One of the main reasons we resurrected the name," he concluded.

The usual suspects also turned up in force with Adam Darragh leading the way, along with former Brisbane Bullet Dave Gurney and NBL veteran Scott McGregor looking to make a return.

"We have a good blend of youth and experience in this group.  We were close last season and hopefully we'll go one step close this season," Conlon said.

The Rollers will have another gallop 7:30pm next Thursday 20 January, at Varsity College.

All players are still welcome to come along.
