ISL Draft Picks Confirmed

The inaugural Intensity Super League (ISL) lottery was drawn last Saturday night at Luna Loca, Surfer Paradise to determine which teams will have what pick in the player draft next Sunday, 10am at The Southport School.

A handful of ISL owners and coaching staff were on hand for this history making event, where six (women) and eight (men) ping pong balls were thrown in a bucket and individually pulled out one by one to determine the picks.

Team Formia, owned by former Gold Coast great Toby Zaremba was rewarded with the first draft pick of the 2010 season. Head coach Joel McIness was ecstatic with that result.

“I am thrilled to have the first ever pick in the ISL next week. The concept is great, we all have to really put some time and effort into this so the first pick is really important, especially with five grand up for grabs,” he said.

The draft will work in a zig zag formation, where round one of the draft will be 1 – 8 then reversed to round two, reversed back from round three and so on until all six womens and eight mens teams are full.

With all teams now sold, coaching staff members appointed, most franchis players selected, all that’s left to be done to complete the process is the player draft on Sunday 29 August.

All players interested are encouraged to get their nomination forms in by Thursday 26 August to avoid missing out.

All games will be 4 x 10 minute quarters fully timed, with shot clocks, score bench and a three panel referee. The season is set to tip off on Sunday 5 September.
