WELCOME TO THE BENDIGO UMPIRES ASSOCIATION

Umpiring the region for 89 years!

The health and welfare of our members and staff is paramount to the BUA Board.

As you will all be aware the current situation around COVID-19 is changing rapidly and in a co-ordinated response with the AFL and AFLCV, the BUA Board will immediately be implementing the following the recommendations as precautionary measures for umpiring in the short term. Undoubtedly there will be additional measures implemented going forward, and we will continue to update this page.

Umpire Training

Until further notice, the BUA will not be conducting any club sanctioned group training sessions.

Where we can, coaching will be provided using alternative technologies that are available to the BUA that don’t require members to congregate in a group. These may include YouTube, email, or similar platforms.

Conditioning program/s will be issued via email, and members can complete these independently at a convenient location for each individual umpire.  Board, Coaches and Appointments Officers will keep you up-to-date via email or SMS.

Match Day

Umpires will continue to service community football as required with additional precautions:

  • If umpires feel unwell or develop symptoms, they should notify their umpiring manager/coach immediately and be removed from the appointed match.
  • Umpire change room access should be restricted to umpires only
  • Umpires are asked to minimise physical contact before and after matches with club personnel, players and the general public.
  • Members are asked to maintain personal hygiene, not to share drink bottles, and bring their own soap and towel to games as these are often not provided by clubs.

It is important to note the information herein is subject to any further developments with respect to the COVID-19 situation.

Tuesday and Thursday at 5.30pm at Weeroona Oval.

Welcome to the Bendigo Umpires Association, the 2014, 2016 and 2017 Umpire Group of the year - we won it so many times they stopped giving out the award.

The Bendigo Umpires Association (BUA) is one of the oldest umpiring groups in Victoria, adjudicating football in Central Victoria since 1931.

The BUA services 46 games each weekend supplying Field, Boundary and Goal umpires in the Bendigo Football Netball League, North Central Football League, Heathcote District Football League, Loddon Valley Football Netball League as well as the Bendigo Junior Football League and Bendigo Youth Womens League.

2018 Field Umpires

Our clubrooms are located at Weeroona Oval, Midland Highway Bendigo.

Training is held on Tuesday and Thursday nights starting at 5:30pm. New umpires are always welcome to come along, take part or just observe a training session and ask us anything about being an umpire.

Every week training sessions are focussed on skill areas that both younger and older, new and experienced umpires can participate in with a view to becoming better umpires. These sessions are lead by experienced and skilful coaches.

 2018 Boundary Umpires

 2018 Boundary Umpires

Members and potential members under the age of 18 are welcome to bring a parent with them so they may observe first hand the safe and enjoyable environment their child will be involved in.

The BUA is a family club. In 2017 we registered 26 families, consisting of fathers, sons and daughters, uncles and nephews and nieces, as well as brothers and sisters. This in turn develops great camaraderie between members of all ages and their families. Becoming an umpire teaches you many things, develops your confidence, creates leaders and creates friendships.  All while staying fit and active along with the added bonus of earning money along the way.

Join today and take up this challenging and rewarding experience.
