GOTAFE and the GVL Partner Together to Promote Positive Mental Health.

During the current pandemic, the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League’s (GVL) number one priority has continued to be the health and wellbeing of its supporters, players, umpires, officials, partners, volunteers and committees and everyone across all of our local communities.

The GVL, together with our valued naming rights partners GOTAFE, are committed to the ongoing development of our community’s wellbeing through programs that make a difference. Both organisations have come together and have engaged the team at The Resilience Project to deliver an online webinar to our member clubs.

GVL Board chairman David Roff said, “We are pleased to be able to partner with GOTAFE to able to provide this webinar free of charge to attendees. The GVL and GOTAFE are always both committed to supporting our communities, and especially now as we navigate our way through this pandemic. We have embraced The Resilience Project so we can all learn how to be mentally and spiritually healthy.”

The Resilience Project explores evidence-based approaches to building resilience, in order to develop and sustain positive mental health. Their highly engaging presentation outlines The Resilience Project strategies, Gratitude, Empathy (kindness) and Mindfulness and discusses simple ways you can practice these in your daily life.

The session will be presented by Martin Heppell, a renowned and inspiring speaker.

GOTAFE CEO Travis Heeney said, “GOTAFE are entirely committed to building strength against adversity during this time and we are delighted to be partnering with the GVL for The Resilience Project. Maintaining a sense of belonging during this pandemic has been a large focus for GOTAFE throughout this challenging year, and The Resilience Project aligns with our commitment to the community's health, wellbeing and future prosperity."

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity. It is a necessary skill for coping with life’s inevitable obstacles and one of the key ingredients to success. Having resilience minimises the effect that negative, stressful situations can have on us. These skills allow us to face challenges, learn from them and apply these skills so we can live a healthy life.

GVL Operations Manager Josephine Spencer said, “2020 has been tough on us all with the current pandemic changing the way we live, work and play. In order to support the wellbeing of everyone at our clubs we have embraced The Resilience Project. We really want to support everyone with mental health strategies and remind everyone that you are not in this alone. We are in this together.”
