Nominations being sort for Regional Referee Coordinators and Referee Advisor

Referee Advisor (Council Executive vacant position)

The Referee Advisor (RA) is a member of the Council Executive and Referee Management Sub Committee (a SC of the Council Executive).  Currently, the RA position is referred to as the SACOA representative in the current Constitution.  Once the new DRAFT Constitution is passed the position will be known as the RA of the Council Executive.  As the RA position is vacant the Council Executive may appoint a person to the role for the remainder of the vacating RA’s term (two years).  On expiry of the term the election of the RA will occur at the SACBCI AGM.  The RA is a member of the Council Executive and is required to attend a minimum of four Council Executive meetings a year.  The RA provides advice on Referees and Referee Coach matters and makes a contribution to Council Executive matters.  if you believe you will be able to make a valuable contribution as a RA we ask you consider nominating for the position.

Please circulate to your Referees and/or Referee Coach’s.

Please send your nomination to office@sacbci.com.au by 5pm the 16th November 2020.

Regional Referee Coordinators - vacancies
As you may be aware we have had three volunteer Regional Referee Coordinators (RRC’s) with a responsibility to educate and develop Referee Coach/Instructors with Associations.  After an annual review we have made the decision to divide the RRC West position into two positions as the area was far too big for one volunteer RRC to cover.  It will now be RRC Peninsula and RRC North (refer to new areas below).  As you may be aware Nikki Ireland has resigned from her position of RRC West.  We now have two vacancies  for RRC Peninsula and RRC North if you believe you meet the requirements for a RRC we ask you consider applying for the position.  Please circulate to your Referees and/or Referee Coach’s.  Please send your application to office@sacbci.com.au by 5pm the 16th November 2020.

  • RRC Peninsula  (Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Yorke Valley, Southern Yorke) vacant
  • RRC North (Adelaide Plains, Clare, Roxby, Broken Hill, Gilbert Valley, Crystal Brooke, Jamestown) vacant
  • RRC Central  Mike Richardson (Eastern Hills, Strathalbyn, Willunga, Kangaroo Island, Great Southern, Barossa Valley, Light)
  • RRC East Kelly Burke (Mallee, Murray Bridge, Riverland, Bordertown, Mt Gambier, Keith, Millicent, Naracoorte)

Each RRC has a generic email and has provided a mobile number for Associations to contact:

  • RRC Peninsula to be confirmed on appointment
  • RRC North to be confirmed on appointment
  • RRC Central RRCCentral@sacbci.com.au Mike Richardson 0410 666 524 prefer email contact
  • RRC East RRCEast@sacbci.com.au Kelly Burke 0418 568 401

Each Association has been requested by the RRC’s to identify a potential Referee Coach/Instructor (RC/I) the RRC can work with and develop to ensure sustainability and capacity within the Association.  If you are a small Association you may consider working with a neighbouring Association to identify a potential Referee Coach/Instructor that can support a number of Associations.  The RC/I will focus on educating, developing and accessing Referees from community level thus assisting to retain and increase the number of Referees within the Association or area.

The Referee Coach/Instructor is a very different role to the person who identifies and rosters Referees for local competitions although they should work together.  Inevitably if you have one person performing both roles the education and development of Referees generally becomes less of a priority and results in Referees not being supported to improve or progress.

Please note the RRC’s are volunteers, please be realistic with your expectations.  The Associations that require the most assistance will be prioritised by the RRC’s.

We have developed an RCI and Referee Education and Development Guideline for Associations to review and understand the role of the RRC and how they can assist.  Please read the guideline prior to contacting an RRC with your request for support.

Many thanks

Julie EO
