Sturt Signs On For Hungry Hawks

One of last season’s key pieces for the Ringwood Hawks NBL1 season has announced he will be back on board for 2020. Veteran Forward Adrien Sturt is signed, sealed, delivered and ready to help the Hawks make a climb up the ladder.

“We didn’t get a very good run at it last year with injuries and player unavailability.” Sturt said.

“But this year we have more depth and hopefully we will be healthy and we could be very good.”

At 6’11 and with a deadly three point shot, Sturt gives Hawks Coach Ken Harrington the opportunity to put a very big team on the floor with Sturt playing in the 3 spot. He was also one of the Hawks better defenders, tackling some of the NBL1 marquee talent each week.

“He is still capable of dominating a game.” Harrington said.

“We have more support for him and Matty Fennell this year so we can hopefully play at a higher level for longer.”

Evidence of Sturt’s ability to light up the NBL1 came in a 42 point explosion against the Centre of Excellence which included 6 from 7 from the 3 point line. On the season, Sturt averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds a game and was a consistent weapon for the Hawks.

The Hawks will officially start their pre-season training on the 6th February with the first NBL1 regular season game on the road against Eltham on the 18th April.
