NBL1 Beckons For Hawks Youth Star

From humble beginnings as a young Hawks junior just learning the game to MVP of the Victorian Youth Championship, Annabel Deerbon is now ready to take the huge step in to NBL1 in 2020.

It has been an amazing few years for Deerbon who established herself quickly as one of the best scoring point guards in the State last year. Her size and quickness makes her a tough cover, but Coach Tim Mottin says it is her determination that has separates her from others.

“Annabel has the drive to play the game at a high level.” Mottin said.

“She is a hard worker, plays with physicality and I think will step in and be able to contribute at NBL1 level right away.”

Deerbon helped lead the Hawks Under 21 VJBL team to State Championship success in 2019 and just recently represented Victoria at Under 21 Nationals where she again showed her ability to impact games.

It will be a busy year for Deerbon though who will balance NBL1 duties with Youth League commitments on a weekly basis.
