Phillips Commits to Plainsman

Congratulations to our own Xavier Phillips who has signed with Frank Phillips College in Texas. Xavier will join the Plainsman later this year. He will be competing in the same conference as fellow Hawk Yuot Gai at South Plains College.

Xavier is a member of our U21-1 Boys Team and a Victorian Youth Championship Men rostered player for 2020. The 6’6 guard/forward has developed significantly over the last 12 months, playing Victorian Championship as a bottom age-player in the 2019 U21-1 Boys, working as a development player in the Youth squad, and representing Victoria at the School Sport Australian U18 National Championships where he earned a bronze medal. Earlier this year, Xavier attended Florida Costal Prep to continue developing his game for increased opportunity at the collegiate level.

Youth Men Head Coach Russell Lee believes the Plainsman are obtaining an incredible athlete known for his dunking capacity and knockdown 3-point shooting. His biggest improvements over the last year have included significantly increased physicality and defensive prowess. In addition to this, Xavier is an incredibly unselfish player and highly coachable. He has a really passion for the game and great work ethic.

On behalf of the entire Hawks Community, we wish Xavier all the best for this amazing opportunity and look forward to seeing him return to the green and white in 2021.
