Young King to Join New Look Hawks

The Ringwood Hawks have added another key piece to their new look NBL1 line up with the signing of Sydney Kings youngster Lochlan Hutchison.

After a disappointing 2019, the Hawks have been busy in the offseason and the addition of Hutchison will give the Hawks the added depth they lacked last year. And from all reports the Hawks are not just getting a talented young player but a quality person.

“He had a day off training with the Sydney Kings who are preparing for the NBL Semi Finals and decided to fly down and train with our guys.” Hawks Head Coach Ken Harrington said.

“Everyone at the Kings speaks highly of him and we can already see why. He will be great to have around our Club and is the type of person that will impact on and off the court.”

Hutchison’s feet touched down at Melbourne airport at 5.30 Tuesday night and headed straight to Hawks training. He threw himself into a 2 hour session (after a solid Kings session in the morning) and then grabbed a late bite to each, some sleep and was then back at the airport for a 9am flight to Sydney. This type of commitment is exactly what the Hawks are hoping will catapult them in to a serious finals contender in 2020.

“I am excited to get back here and play NBL1, it’s a great league.” Hutchison said.

“I really wanted to get down and meet everyone so I have a head start when I get back and then hopefully slot straight in.”

The Kings are currently favorites to win the NBL Championship this year and if they go all the way, Hutchison won’t rejoin the Hawks till around the start of April. He is not expected to have a major on court role during the playoffs but he will insure that Hawks fans have a team to cheer for in the meantime.

Hutchison will be in uniform for the Hawks opening weekend of games when the play Eltham at Eltham on Saturday 18th April and then back up on Sunday at home against Ballarat.
