It was a hard fought match on Saturday night and it had us on the edge of our seats. Opal, Jo, Kirsty, Shannon M and Sarah started. Woodville quickly scored and Opal replied for the Rockets. As she scrambled on the floor, a terrific pass to Shannon resulted in a nice three. Kirsty then shot a smooth three and Jo had the first foul called. Woodville missed a few opportunities as our defence was tight and Shannon made them pay with another great three. Safety was shouted from the bench and caused a Woodville turnover and a score by Kirsty. Georgia stepped onto the court and at quarter time Rockets were leading 19 to 20.

It was a free flowing game, with tough defence by both teams. Sarah opened our scoring and then Woodville had a shot clock violation. Courtney and Shannon Tarran entered the game and the teams were trading baskets. Jo and Shannon M continued to score, but the lead was with Woodville at half time, 40 to 36.

The starting five were back on and Opal opened the scoring for the quarter. A strong rip by Sarah levelled the score. Jo’s second effort was rewarded with a score, but as the bench was quicker than the ref to yell “travel”, the Coach was given a tech foul. But the team fought back on the court, with Shannon M scoring well to keep the deficit to only 4 at three quarter time, 58 to 54.

Kirsty led the team to level the score with foul shots and then a terrific shot gave the Rockets the lead. Shannon threw another swish three, but a turnover gave Woodville the lead back. Jo and Shannon M lead the scoring with accurate foul shots. With a switched up defence, and strong rebounding, the Rockets took the lead. Sarah was fouled and made one out of the two shots and helped cement a win of 66 to 71, much to the relief of the Rockets crowd.

The top rebounders were Opal M with 9 rebounds, Top assists by Sarah E with 7 assists

Top scorers were Shannon Mckay 20 pts and Opal M with 17 pts
