Two big wins for both clubs last week, both coming on the back of some exceptional play by two superstars and leaders of the league. Panthers' Captain Mollie McKendrick put up 21 points, 23 rebounds and 10 assists with 0 turnovers. While the Pioneers Captain, Amanda Frost, put up 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while playing the full 40 minutes. This game will be a slog for both teams.
Hang Time Prediction: Mount Gambier Pioneers
MEN by Daniel Renfrey
The Pioneers suffered a heart-breaking overtime loss to Norwood in Round 5, losing out 101-111 after being up by 14 at one point. It is hard to begrudge a team who lost in overtime, and Mt Gambier looked to be the better side during regular time, playing free flowing offence and holding the Flames on defence. Not being able to keep this up for a full four quarters came back to bite them though, and James Legan catching fire did not help either. Tom Daly and Kentrell Barkley were outstanding for their side, combining for 64 points, 11 assists and 20 rebounds. The Panthers are still yet to win after going down to North Adelaide by 14 points in Round 5 and this looks set to continue this round. The team’s struggles to take care of the ball on offence did not help the cause against the Rockets. If the team can play intense defence and give the starting 5 some more support, they will stand a chance.
