Footy is set to return to Regional Queensland with AFL Capricornia the first of the regional compeitions to release the 2020 Fixture.
With all matches to resume on Saturday 11th Of July, the Yeppoon Swans will kick off their title defence in the Frenchville Sports Club Premiership at home when they take on the BITS Saints. A tough start and a long travel for the saints but new coach, Rick Bean, will undoubtedly have his squad raring to go in what should be a great challenge.
2019 Runners up, Rockhampton Panthers will commence their season at home taking on the Glenmore Bulls who welcome back Tim Higgins as Player/Coach of the Senior squad. This will also be the launch of the Premiership defence for the Panthers Senior Womens Team who have taken out the last two titles.
The final lot of matches for Round 1 will see the Brothers Kangaroos host the Gladstone Suns at Kele Park. Both of these Clubs showed significant signs of development in 2019 and will be looking to continue that growth in 2020. This will be a critical match for both teams to get off to a strong start and set themselves on the right path for the remainder of the season.
In a great sign for Football in the Region all 6 Clubs have nominated teams in every competition in what has been a challenging time for Community Football. Along with the Senior Mens, Senior Women's and Reserves Competition all Youth Competitions will resume on the same day with the Under 13.5, Under 15.5 & Under 17.5 returning to the field.
The revised season sees a 10 Week Home and away competition, two-thirds of the regular season, and for the first time all 6 Clubs will compete in a 3 week Final Series with the Grand Final being played on Saturday 3rd of October.
