North Canterbury Basketball wants to provide an update on our progress in level 2, and we return to playing the sport we love.
Currently, obtaining court spacing within the region to cater for our various programs and teams have proven difficult and thus delayed the process of starting our regular term timetable.
At the moment we are focusing our energy on getting our 19 club teams organized, and prepared to return to play in a safe manner for the CBA club competition starting on the 13th of June.
Unfortunately, due to the condensed timetable, and short turn around the 30th anniversary of the SIPT has been further postponed, and will not go ahead in the July school holidays. The only date left available on the basketball calendar is Show weekend in November. We are currently exploring the viability of this, and will send out a further update specific to SIPT in due course.
Hoops and Stars will return in its full capacity in term 3, however we are going to run a program for 3 weeks to finish the term starting the 17th of June, with the other 2 sessions on the 24th June, and 1st of July. Information about registration will be released next week.
The u13 regionals that was to occur in October, and McDonalds Friday night basketball in term 3 & 4 are still going ahead as planned.
The u15, and u17 nationals have been shifted to Labour weekend in October, while Mainlands in July has been canceled.
Finally secondary school basketball has had regional tournaments in September cancelled, but Secondary school nationals in October are still currently going ahead.
