ROUND 6 rolled on in the WRFL and the dominant season of Tarneit continued as they made it five wins from as many starts in 2016.
They were able to shake off an admirable Laverton by a touch under 10 goals.
It’s just another victory in a dream run for Tarneit who sit atop the ladder after six rounds.
Following a close first half, they kicked away, outscoring the Magpies seven goals to two after the long break.
Despite an overall team effort by Tarneit, Ralph booted four majors and Damien Harris, Joshua Stone and Reece Frost were all big contributors.
Hot on Tarneit’s heels are the Wyndham Suns who also kept a perfect record, defeating Parkside by nine goals in a relatively stress-free performance.
They burst out of the gates with a six goal to nil first quarter and were never truly challenged by Parkside.
The Suns will be striving to put away teams early as the season continues, with percentage looking like playing a big role in the final makeup of the top spots.
They were lucky that Parkside were wayward in front of goal, kicking four goals and seven behinds.
At the other end of the ladder, the disappointing Braybrook Bombers still couldn’t clinch a maiden victory, falling to Sunshine Heights by 71 points.
With just a single major to half time, the Bombers never stood a chance, as the impressive Dragons piled on the goals and were able to cruise to the final siren.
They shared the footy ad nauseum, with four multiple goal kickers in Cabrera, Sposato, Kalogirou and El Sabsabi.
For Braybrook, it was another case of just not having enough cattle on the park. They are currently winless and have a measly percentage of 13.56 per cent.
On the goalkicking leaderboard, Tarneit’s Troy Whiting holds a four goal lead from the Christopher’s Hall and Neville and Parkside’s Mark Folwell.
Whiting’s 18 majors have been a significant element in his team’s blistering start to the 2016 season.
Next week should be a mouth-watering top of the table encounter as Tarneit and Wyndham face off.
They will look to determine the big dog in the pack, and it’s sure to be a tight contest that could be the match of the year.
If you’re in the area, get down to Wootten Road Reserve this Saturday for one hell of a game.
