Sharon Kwarula continued her outstanding run of form by taking another huge slice off her national record in the 100m hurdles today on her home track at West Texas A&M University at Canyon. Her time of 13.56 seconds in winning the race today not only took 0.32 seconds off the national record but it eclipsed the best ever performance in this event by a Pacific Islander. Rachel Rogers of Fiji held the previous best time with her clocking of 13.62 seconds in Canberra in 1998. Conditions were perfect for Kwarula with a following wind of 2.0 metres per second, right on the limit for record purposes. Fortunately for her, the event was run early in the programme as there were very strong winds recorded later on. Other highlights for PNG were a good 100m run of 10.67 secs (+3.5) by Kupun Wisil just 30hours after landing in the US and personal bests for Shirley Vunatup in both the 100m (12.51) and 200m (25.59)
