New Staff appointment - talent & coaching manager

After a comprehensive process WBA have recently appointed Melbourne based applicant Luke Sunderland to the newly created full time position as Talent & Coaching Manager.

 Luke comes to WBA with a strong background in basketball, firstly as a former college level player himself and since that time he has developed a proven track record in coaching and elite athlete development.

 Luke holds a Bachelor of Exercise Science with a major in sport management and a minor in sports coaching and is a current level 2 association coach. He has been coaching at representative level basketball for the past 15 years including within the VJBL, Big V, NITP programs, School Sport Victoria and in the private coaching sector.

During this time Luke has worked and developed players from all levels including junior representative level, college scholarship athletes, Olympians and professionals from the NBA, NBL and Euroleague competitions including being the personal trainer for Andrew Bogut during his NBA career.

  • Western Port Basketball Association – Director of Coaching Junior Program/Men’s State League Head Coach
  • Andrew Bogut Basketball Academy – Head Coach & Manager (personal trainer to Andrew Bogut)
  • Southern Peninsula Basketball Club – Head Coach Big V Men’s Team
  • McKinnon Basketball Club – Assistant Coach Big V Men’s Team
  • Cranbourne Basketball Association – Head Coach Big V Youth League Men’s Team & Junior Director of Coaching

Luke will make the move to Willetton starting in February 2020.
