Mitch Oxborrow named 2019 Graham Jennings Medallist
Former Hyundai A-League and Broadmeadow Magic midfielder Mitch Oxborrow was awarded the Graham Jennings Medal for 2019 as the the NPL Northern NSW Player of the Year at The Jennings Medal held at NEX Newcastle last Friday night following a terrific season that saw him bag eight goals, and even more assists in crucial moments of the season.
The event, which saw over 450 members of the local community football attend, highlighted the achievements and accomplishments of players, coaches, teams, officials and clubs throughout Northern NSW Football and also recognised the special and enormous contribution of one of the most influential footballers within the region, Graham Jennings.
In the other awards of the evening, Mick Bolch from Maitland FC was awarded the NPL Northern NSW Coach of the Year award for the first time in his career after leading the club to a first-ever top-tier premiership, while Charlestown City Blues’ gloveman Nate Archbold received the Bill Mahoney Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Youngster Kaelan Burke from Valentine Phoenix received the NPL Northern NSW Rookie of the Year while Hamilton Olympic were named Club of the Year and in fan-decided NPL Northern NSW Goal of the Year category, Charlestown City Blues’ Riley McNaughton won by just five votes accuring 23% of the almost 600 votes.
