Christopher O’Hare returned to score a 95th-minute penalty for 10-man FNQ FC Heat in a dramatic 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar Youth at Endeavour Park on Saturday.

Fresh from an overseas break, O’Hare held his nerve from the spot deep into stoppage time to send Heat back into the top four.

Scores remained level until after the hour when the odds turned in Young Roar’s favour with the dismissal of Charlie Beverley.

Heat ‘keeper Kevin Ward was called upon to maintain parity until O’Hare dispatched the decisive penalty at the death.

The Cairns side are now right back in the top four mix, while Young Roar’s fourth straight defeat means they remain ninth ahead next weekend’s trip to Toowoomba.

Key Moments

28’ – CHANCE FOR HEAT – O’Hare gets into the area but Bilic keeps out the low shot.

40’ – CHANCE FOR ROAR – Yoon receives a pass from Lloyd Cabilan and forces a diving save from Ward.

50’ – CHANCE FOR HEAT – O’Hare looks to have opened the scoring but he’s pulled back for offside.

66’ – RED CARD FOR HEAT – Beverley is dismissed after tangling with Young Roar’s Daniel Leck.

78’ – CHANCE FOR ROAR – Ward keeps Heat level by denying Aaron Reardon with a point-blank save.
