Souths Put Five Past Fire

Souths United

Words: Tristram Peters

A first-half blitz has lifted Souths United Women to a 5-0 victory over Sunshine Coast FC Women at Wakerly Park on Sunday afternoon.

A brace from Deeanna Thompson and an early goal from Kirsten Mcgilvray shot the hosts to an early 3-0 before the break.

Half time proved little solace for Sunshine Coast, with Imogen Noon striking on resumption and Rosie Sutton sealing the 5-0 result with a thunderbolt just before full time.

The win keeps Souths in the hunt near the top of the table, but Sunshine Coast are still looking for their first win of the season.

They will look to regroup when they host ladder leaders Peninsula Power this weekend, while Souths travel to Clive Berghofer Stadium to play South West Queensland Thunder.
