Defending Champions Moreton Bay United have taken just one match to return to the top of the table after recording a solid 3-1 win over Brisbane City at Corporate Travel Management Stadium.

Jets started the contest brightly and, despite a prolonged delay after a floodlight failure in the first half, opened accounts via off-season recruit and PlayStation 4 National Premier League debutant Joey Masuda.

City proved up to task to deny further Jets raids and were rewarded shortly after the restart as parity was restored via an own goal.

However, Jets recaptured their spark the final quarter hour courtesy of telling build-up contributions from a pair of young substitutes – veteran striker Royce Brownlie played in by Finn Beakhurst, before Jacob Fulluck did the same for Alex Janovsky to seal the win with his maiden PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues goal.

Key Moments

10’ – CHANCE FOR JETS – Royce Brownlie’s scuffed shot invites Jordan Farina to pull the trigger from point blank range but City goalkeeper Timothy Allen saves well with his feet.

13’ – POWER OUT – The match is delayed as a power outage plunges the ground into darkness

25’ – GOAL FOR JETS – Taiga Ishikura crosses low to fellow Japanese visa player Joey Masuda, who rifles his shot into the bottom left hand corner past despairing dive of Timothy Allen.

47' – CHANCE FOR JETS – Jordan Farina heads at goal from close range but his denied by a brilliant save from Timothy Allen

53' – CHANCE FOR JETS – A stinging shot from Taiga Ishikura from outside the area cannons into the crossbar

60’ – GOAL FOR CITY – Scot Coulson’s flick-on from a corner kick ricochets into the back of the net off a Moreton Bay defender

69' – CHANCE FOR JETS – Timothy Allen again comes to his side’s rescue this time denying Alex Janovsky one-on-one after he was played in by Royce Brownlie

76' – GOAL FOR JETS - Finn Beakhurst breaks the offside trap and crosses low to the front post where Royce Brownlie taps in

80’ – INJURY FOR JETS – Royce Brownlie falls awkwardly and clutches at his hamstring and is soon substituted

84' - GOAL FOR JETS – Jacob Fulluck plays through Alex Janovsky on the counter, this time he makes no mistake as he slots home into the far corner

What They Said

“One of the things we are trying to create through the club is bringing the youth on. Finn Beakhurst came on and so did Jacob Fulluck and if we can have these guys contribute at the back end of the game and contribute to the result then that’s what it’s all about.” – Dave Harris, Moreton Bay United coach

“We got back into the game in the second half and once we got to one-all we had a head of steam up. But we copped a silly second goal. We got caught out and (were) a little bit naïve. The guys heads went down a little but and we got to learn to deal with that stuff because we were still in the game.“ – John Kosmina, Brisbane City coach
