UQFC Women have sent a message to their title rivals with a 10-0 whitewash of Moreton Bay United Women on Sunday.

Linley Archard and Greta Bodey starred with four each as the hosts dominated from start to finish.

The class of Amy Chapman shone through first for UQFC as the Australian international opened the scoring early in proceedings, before provider Greta Bodey turned goalscorer in the 25th minute by curling home from the edge of the area.

Archard grabbed her first just a minute later from Chapman’s squared pass to make It 3-0 within half an hour.

UQFC found time for two more through Emma Pitman and Archard before the break, before continuing their heavy scoring after the restart.

Archard took her tally to four by the 56th minute with two successive strikes, allowing Bodey to take over the mantle for the final 20 minutes.

The forward equalled Archard’s total with a 15-minute hattrick to add to her earlier effort, capping the scoring on a stunning start to the season for Wayne Gibbon’s team.

Speaking after the match, UQFC coach Gibbon praised his side’s style in achieving the result.

“I thought the team actually played some good football in scoring those goals which is much more important,” he said.

Despite the scoreline, Jets coach Lorna Dent was able to find cause for optimism.

“To be honest I actually take quite a bit of positives out of it, I never expected to come out and win against a team like that,” Dent said.
