Thunder Women Win Friendly

Words: Michael Flynn

SWQ Thunder Women got their pre-season off to a positive start with a 2-1 win over a Football Stanthorpe XI at Ballandean Football Club on Saturday.

In a match played across three 25 minutes periods, Thunder dominated possession but failed to make the most of their chances to eventually squeak home by a single goal.

Kayla Bracken and Sophie Fuller netting the goals for Thunder, while Richelle Reardon chipped in with Stanthorpe’s sole goal.

Thunder fielded a mix of Senior Women and Youth Women players in the contest as coach Craig Burgess seeks to instil a consistent style of play across the two squads.

Thunder will start their inaugural PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Senior Women’s campaign against Redlands United Women on Saturday week.
