Royce Brownlie secured a hat-trick at Moreton Bay United’s Presentation Dinner last Friday - but this time it was awards, not goals, etched beside his name.

The veteran striker and team captain was named Player of the Year and Best and Fairest, the latter announced via a special video link from Brisbane Roar star import Thomas Broich.

The 34-year-old former Hyundai A-League and National Soccer League player also won Jets’ Golden Boot Award for the 2014 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season after delivering an astounding 34 goals in just 24 games.

Brownlie was unable to attend the awards due to prior commitments, but in a recorded message congratulated his team-mates on the NPL season, thanked them for their support and looked forward to the 2015 campaign.

Jets’ Players’ Player of the Year was Charles Mendy, the French striker who marked his first season in Australia with 22 goals and alongside Brownlie accounted for more than two-thirds of the club’s 2014 goals.

The Most Improved Player award went to midfielder Ryota Nakaooka following his first season in the NPL.

Jets’ Youth Player of the Year was fellow midfielder Sam Dickenson, who was 16 when he made his senior debut.

Dickenson’s under 20 team-mates, Matthew Sanchez, Dane Forsyth, Jack Baresic and Chom Arop, were all drafted in to the senior side during last season.

Awards for Jets’ junior PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland teams were presented at a separate junior awards event.
