South West Queensland Thunder have defied a short turnaround between fixtures to defeat Western Pride 3-2 at Briggs Road Sporting Complex on Sunday evening.

Having played midweek against Brisbane Olympic on Wednesday night, Thunder showed little sign of fatigue to storm out of the blocks and race to a 2 nil lead.

Sophie Lamberton looked to launch a Pride comeback following half-time with a wonderstrike from outside the box, but Rolfe put the game beyond doubt with a smart finish in the 79th minute.

Thunder look to continue their recent rise up the ladder when they host University of Queensland next weekend, while Pride look to secure their first points of the season away to Gold Coast.
