It has been a baptism of fire for Moreton Bay United Women in this season’s PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland, but coach Lorna Dent is relishing the challenge.

Jets make their home debut this Sunday against league leaders Eastern Suburbs FC Women.

Jets are still finding their feet in the early rounds of the season, suffering two heavy defeats to University of Queensland FC and Olympic FC and sit second last in the league standings.

However, Dent says the team’s home debut will offer an extra incentive as Jets seek their first competition points of 2015.

“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s great to have a home game at last,” Dent explained.

“We’re probably up against one of the best in the league and it will be a tough game. But the girls in our team have been excellent and their heads are up all the time.”

Dentadded that she wasn’t reading too much into the early results.

“There are some mixed results and you’ll find everyone will have injuries and different things happen through the season, as we have.”

“But it is important to remember we’re starting from scratch, we’re building and as the season goes we’ll get stronger and stronger, we’ll develop as a unit and I think the signs are only positive for the future.”

Dent said her aim for this weekend was to continue to work on the team’s structure.

“We’ve had a few injuries but they are coming back and they are strong players, which will be great for the spine of the team.”

Jets Women face Eastern Suburbs Women this Sunday at Wolter Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm.
