Olympic Prepare With Wolves Win

Words: Matt Dorman

Olympic FC will carry winning form into their season opener after a 4-1 win over Wolves FC at Carmichael Park on Tuesday night.

The former PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Champions scored twice either side of the break as they continued on from last weekend's Macron Cup triumph.

Rhys Meredith was first on the scoresheet against the Trophy Superstore Premier League side, tucking home at the far post after Tim Smits nodded on Danny Byrne’s cross.

Byrne doubled Olympic’s advantage soon after when his free-kick from wide on the right crept across the face of goal untouched and inside the upright.

It was 3-0 shortly after the restart as Smits found his scoring groove ahead of the Yeronga club’s season opener away to Moreton Bay United.

Wolves produced a quick response to pull one back after Smits’ strike but the hosts couldn’t keep substitute Mustafa Jafari from sealing an Olympic victory in the final 20 minutes, the young striker adding to his impressive pre-season tally.

Olympic open their PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2015 season away to Jets on Sunday, with kick off scheduled for 6.00pm.

Wolves FC 1 (Scorer Unknown 55’)
Olympic FC 4 (Rhys MEREDITH 10’ Danny BYRNE 25’ Tim SMITS 48’ Mustafa JAFARI 73’)
