Former A-League winning defender Matt Mundy will not take part in tonight’s blockbuster Westfield FFA Cup tie against Melbourne Knights, Olympic officials confirmed last night.

Mundy will miss the match with suspension after receiving a red card on Friday night in Olympic’s 5-1 win over Moreton Bay United.

Munday was involved in a scuffle with Jets player Matthew Sanchez in the final minutes of the league clash, resulting in both players being sent from the field.

The rules of the competition mean his automatic suspension will carry over to tonight’s cup tie.

While Olympic coach Jim Bellas will wait until the last possible minute to decide on Mundy’s replacement, he confirmed 26 year old Mark Fisk is in contention to replace the experienced defender.

Speaking at Monday night’s final training session before the clash, Bellas said, “"Mark is very experienced and played extremely well on Friday night. He's the logical choice."

"It will mean a new partnership for us but we will see what happens during the game and we can adjust if we need to."

Fisk has made five appearances for Olympic in NPL Queensland, but was a regular in last year's title-winning squad.
