NEWS: New Geelong region All-Abilities league planned for 2018 season

FOOTBALL Federation Victoria (FFV), in conjunction with the Geelong Region Football Committee (GRFC), is exploring the possibility of launching a new Geelong Region All-Abilities Football League in 2018, assuming there is enough interest from local region clubs in forming new All-Abilities teams.

It is envisaged that the new all encompassing competition would involve a seven-a-side format and would be played outdoors.

It is likely that it would initially be a seniors’ competition and would not be gender specific.

The preferred model would involve existing GRFC clubs creating new All-Abilities teams, which would be playing out of their current home grounds, although it is a distinct possibility that new All-Abilities specific clubs may be formed from scratch.

A competition launch may be held as a lightning premiership style competition event somewhere central – possibly Howard Glover Reserve in East Geelong.

All Geelong region clubs are being urged to seek interest from their own club members for any potential co-ordinators for an All-Abilities team at their respective club to help drive the creation of this new competition.

Any interested persons who are willing to attend a special forum/meeting in the New Year are urged to contact FFV’s Strategic Development CoOrdinator for Geelong Tonci Prusac at tprusac@ffv.org.au
