Mt Barker Magicv German Arms 76ersMount Barker Magic extended their winning streak with a comfortable 69-40 win over Zodiacs 3.  Matt Johns (19pts) and Jason Warhurst (19pts) were again instrumental in the victory.  Seb Bald (13pts) and Zane Grivell (9pts) both contributed strongly for the undermanned youngsters despite the defeat. Leading Scorers: Magic 69 (M. Johns 19, J. Warhurst 19) defeated Zodiacs 3 40 (S. Bald 13, Z. Grivell 9, S. Graves 8)

Zodiacs 1 v Hackers. Zodiacs 1 took another step towards finals basketball with a 51- 34 win over Hackers. The addition of centre Matt Williams has significantly improved the height deficiency of the golds, who were just too big for the undersized Hackers outfit on this occasion.  Williams (17pts) led a balanced attack as they locked down at the other end, with Tom Boxer(10pts) the only Hackers player to reach double digits. Leading Scorers: Zodiacs 1 51 (M. Williams 17, S. Baxter14, C. Steinwedel 11) defeated Hackers 34 (T. Boxer 10, W. Fletcher 8)

German Arms 76ersv Onka PiranhasIn the match-up of the round, German Arms 76ers faced Onka Pirahnas. In an upbeat contest it was the 76ers who got the points over the high-flying Piranhas, with a tough (46 - 36) win. Jordan Houlahan led the points with a game high (24pts), for Piranhas it was again livewire Devon McGee adding some important scoring power with (17pts). Leading Scorers: German Arms 76ers 46 (J. Houlahan 24, T. Parker Boers 8) defeated Onka Piranhas 36 (D. McGee 17, S. Wagner 5)

Zodiacs 2 v Rimshots. Zodiacs 2 were pushed by an energetic Rimshots, who unfortunately didn’t have enough in the tank to get the job done, Zodics 2 posting 54 - 48 win.  Aaron Morris (23pts) and Cody Page (8pts) were too strong for Rimshots, despite Ben Vincent adding a season high (26pts). Leading Scorers: Zodiacs 2 54 (A. Morris 13, C. Page 8) defeated Hackers 48 (B. Vincent 26, T. Howard 9)

 

TOP AWARD FOR HENRYAt the recent Australian Junior Basketball Country Cup held annually in NSW border city of Albury, Eastern Hills Basketball identity Henry Weiss received the prestigious Award of Merit.

Henry has been involved in the Cup competition for the past decade representing SA Country Basketball in the role of team and senior age group Manager. In addition to Cup participation, Henry has devoted many years to coaching and managing teams in the Eastern Hills Basketball Competition based in Mount Barker, and is the area supervisor representative on the SA Country Basketball Council Executive.

Henry is seen here on the left being presented his award at the closing ceremony. Presenting Henry with the award is former Eastern Hills Basketball stalwart Bert Bargeus, who is also the Country Cup Director.

 

Adelaide Lightning Players in Mount BarkerAdelaide Lightning WNBL players Mollie McKendrick, Mikaela Ruef and Morgan Yaeger will run a clinic at Cornerstone College this coming Thursday, 11th February for the EHBA DNSP trials.  For information please contact the EHBA office.
