SANFL Community Football Player Payments (TPPS) COVID-19 Season 2020
Following a detailed consultation process and surveys of Community Leagues and Clubs, a decision has been made in relation to the Total Player Payments System (TPPS) in community football to help ensure the survival and ongoing sustainability of all community football clubs and leagues in 2020 and beyond.
SANFL Community Football Total Player Payments are reduced to $0.00 per game, with travel and after-match awards to remain, for the 2020 season.
Please see the attached memorandum for further detail regarding the decision on player payments. There is a summary table highlighting the key changes as well as a frequently asked questions section to provide leagues and clubs with a guide.
We have provided this information on player payments in advance of the meeting on June 9 in order to provide clubs and leagues with as much clarity as possible regarding the financial implications of commencing a season in 2020.
At the meeting on 9 June between SANFL and League Presidents/Secretaries, there will be a number of critical items on the agenda which will include the capacity to hold competitions with spectators/crowds. We will also provide any further clarity required on player payments or other financial considerations for season 2020.
In closing, we want acknowledge the leadership of clubs and leagues on this issue and appreciate the football community working together to ensure all community clubs are sustainable now and into the future.
Set out in the image is a high-level summary of the need for change, the amendment and the consultation process.
