The Ultimate Warrior

Having been spotted by Paul Bergman in 2004, the Napoer born, rugby playing Mannering moved to Wellington from Motieka, where his family had moved to when he was 2 years old, to play for the Wellington under 18s Rugby League side. From there he was selected for the Wellington Orcas team to play in the Batercard cup competition.

2004 also saw Mannering make the Junior Kiwis and the New Zealand A side. Simon received interest from the Bulldogs and Parramatta before deciding to move to Auckland and join the New Zealand Warriors.

Congratulations and all the best Juju! An absolute legend of the game and truly the Ultimate Warrior.
