ROUND SIXTEEN: Norwood Flames v Central District Lions

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

Norwood moved to 7-7 after edging out the struggling North Adelaide Rockets by a mere 2-points in Round 16 and will be wishing to make a statement against the last placed Lions. By almost dropping a crucial game against North, Norwood will want to continue the Lions woes. In a gloomy night for the Lions, they had a bright spark in Jazmen Boone who dropped 28-points and pulled down an astounding 17-rebounds. Unfortunately the lack of help from her fellow Lions saw Centrals fall to the Pioneers and the same may appear this weekend against Norwood. Despite having a consistent guard in Boone, the lack of surrounding pieces will prove costly against the stronger Flames as their season draws to a close.

Hang Time Prediction: Norwood Flames

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

The Flames have looked unstoppable for most of the season but a couple losses in as many rounds has them looking shaky. Norwood were outclassed by a Rockets team with Mcveigh and Starling firing on all cylinders. The Flames struggled to defend the three-point line and also make an efficient amount of their three-point attempts, which cost them in the end. James Legan put up 22 points but also shot 5-18 from the field, which, along with the support of his teammates, will need to be improved this week. The Lions will be keen for a win after they were thrashed by the Pioneers last round. They turned the rock over 24 times, allowing the Pioneers to score easy transition buckets, and were inefficient with their shooting and also their defensive coverage. Riewer struggled from the field, as did most of his team, and this, along with some glaring defensive issues, will have to be better if they want to beat the Flames. With Norwood looking vulnerable this could be a good opportunity for the Lions to get a win. However, it’s always tough to bet against the Flames, especially when they’re eager for a win.
