Olympia FC Warriors have today announced the departure of star defender Jacob Collard and goalkeeper Pasquale Gioffre. The club released the following statement from President George Mamacas on Friday afternoon.

“It is with regret that I wish to inform the football public that Jacob Collard and Pasquale Gioffre will no longer be a part of Olympia FC. Jacob has been transferred to Melbourne City FC and Pasquale has been offered a place at Heidelberg FC. Both players have been picked up by these clubs over the last 24 hours.  The club wishes them both well in their future footballing endeavours. Although a major setback for Olympia FC,  the board along with our coaching staff recognise that part of our role in football is to develop and get players to the highest possible level they can achieve and aspire to. It is clear we did not develop Jacob or Pasquale however Olympia FC did play a small role in getting them to the next level of football in Australia. The club was aware upon signing them that this could be a possibility given the respective ability of these two talented players.”

Pasquale Gioffre will play his final game for Oympia FC Warriors tomorrow against Northern Rangers at the NTCA ground before linking up with his new club. Collard has already returned to Perth before he begins his stint at Melbourne City.

The news comes as a blow to Olympia, who have endured a difficult start to the 2016 PS4 NPL TAS season and currently sit in fourth position on the ladder. It will stretch their squad depth ahead of their big league games against South Hobart and Hobart Zebras as well as the crunch Lakoseljac Cup Semi Final against South Hobart in two weeks time.
