Kevin White's goal four minutes into stoppage time snatched all three points for Subiaco in a hard-fought contest against a Perth SC side desperately trying to catch the top two.

In an end-to-end National Premier Leagues WA encounter at Rosalie Park, it was somewhat surprising that the first and only goal took so long to arrive as both sides created a plethora of chances.

But inspired goalkeeping and poor finishing combined to keep fans on the edge of their seats as both teams searched for a breakthrough.

Subiaco coach Gerry McEwan described his players' performance as fantastic as they edged further away from the relegation trap door.

"We made some chances today that worried Perth. We had to do that, you can't just let them come at you,” he said.

"Their keeper's made a couple of great saves, and as the game's gone on, we've got a bit of confidence that we could create chances.

"Our job is to make life hard for the opposition and hope our strikers, and we've some talented young boys here, can do the business"

Perth coach Taki Nicolaidis bemoaned his sides "Jekyll & Hyde" performances following the previous week's 5-0 win over Stirling Lions.

"Too many of our guys didn't show up today or didn't want to put in the hard yards, and you get punished for it," he said.

"Fair play to Subi, they made it difficult and rode their luck, but at the end of the day they scored one more than we did.”

A host of chances came and went in the opening half. Subiaco's Josh Booysen was denied twice by a deflection and a smart stop from visiting keeper Francis Soale.

Perth responded with Mark Pritchard firing over, before Subi stopper Ryan Montgomery produced a fine double save in a crowded penalty box.

Josh Wilkins was busy down The Azzurri's right hand side, but Subiaco had the best chance of the half, White volleying wide when he had time and space to consider his options.

After the break it was Subiaco who upped the tempo. White again tried his luck with a chipped effort that dipped too late, before being denied by Soale's fingertips from 20m.

Soale had earlier been alert to palm away Rory Feely's low drive.

The visitors too had a close call, seeing a corner scrambled off the line before the loose ball was sent skyward.

Soale and Montgomery were still on their toes as the game drew to a close, but in the 94th minute it was a tale of two chances - one missed, one taken.

The visitors' skipper Clark Keltie rose highest to connect with a corner, but his header crashed against the top of the cross-bar and behind.

Subiaco cleared, were awarded a free kick on halfway and launched it into the box looking for late replacement Ian McMurray.

His flick on found White who hit a low shot into the back of the net via the foot of the post to send the vocal home support into raptures.
