ECU Joondalup celebrate their 2020 league title win
2020 NPLWA Men’s champions ECU Joondalup face an exciting start to their title defence with a trip to Gwelup Croatia in Round One.
The Jacks took the league on the final day last October and will be fancied to go back to back.
Gwelup will also have their admirers and will be out to put down a marker first up.
This match takes place on Sunday 21 March, the day after all of the other sides begin the season.
Last year’s runners-up Cockburn City have a home clash with Sorrento, while Floreat Athena, who missed out on the league on the last day after losing to Cockburn, host Balcatta.
Perth SC, champions in three of the last five years, begin with the visit of Perth Glory, while Bayswater City, the only other team to have won the title, face Rockingham City at Frank Drago Reserve.
The other Round One game sees Armadale at home to Inglewood United.
While last year’s shortened league season was split into a bottom and top six because of Covid, the 2021 campaign with revert to 22 home and away matches with the side finishing first at the end being crowned champions.
The team finishing bottom can be relegated to the Men’s State League Division One.
