Inglewood United held off a spirited Perth Glory to record a 2-1 win at Ashfied Reserve in their PS4 NPLWA fixture on Saturday.

Early pressing paid dividends for Inglewood, as they stormed to a 2-0 lead after 23 minutes, thanks to an Ash Rosindale header and a well taken Kenny Keogh goal.

Bayley Brown-Montgomery pulled one back as the Glory piled on the pressure in the second half, but the leaders held firm to remain at the top.

Coach Andy Keogh was pleased with his team’s effort.

“It was a good first half performance with couple of good goals,” he said.

“It was a tough game and I’m happy we didn’t slip up. We could have had a couple more.

“They could have also had a couple in the second half as they put on a good show, especially with an inexperienced young team.”

Inglewood performed brilliantly in an impressive first half and took 12 minutes to net the opener.

Matthew Ntoumenopoulos was able to find Rosindale with an inch perfect delivery, and the former Perth striker placed his header past Nick Feely at the near post.

The visitors continued to threaten out wide through Choc Dau and Kenny Keogh and the two combined to double the visitors lead.

Dau dropped deeper and threaded a defence-splitting pass for Keogh to run onto and score.

Feely kept the hosts in the game when he denied Scott Blackmore at point blank range with Inglewood taking a commanding lead into half time.

Glory came alive in the second half and got themselves back into the game when Yacoub Mustafa went on an inspired solo run and dazzled his way past four defenders.

He passed to Michael Domfeh, whose shot was spilled by Alex Dunn, but followed in and tapped home by Brown-Montomgery.

Despite their efforts, they couldn’t force an equaliser to the disappointment of coach John Gibson, who was frustrated with the result after a brave fightback.

“We had some processes we wanted to do in fairly difficult conditions and we definitely did that in the second half,” he said.

"First half, we just played football instead of thinking about what we were trying to achieve, and that changed dramatically the second half.

“We gave away two soft goals. The second half was a fantastic performance, so we’re disappointed not to get anything out of it.”
