The Pacific Games Council paid a visit to Nuku'alofa in the second half of July to inspect Tonga's bid to host the 2015 Pacific Games.
Council President, Vidhya Lakhan, together with the Executive Director, Andrew Minogue, started the visit by meeting with the full Executive Boards of the Tonga Amateur Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC), chaired by Lord Tevita Tupou, and including the Secretary-General Takitoa Taumoepeau and Senior Vice President 'Ahongalu Fusimalohi, who is also CEO of the 2015 Bid Committee.
The Council was also able to meet with the Prime Minister of Tonga, the Hon. Fred Sevele, the Finance Minister the Hon. 'Afu'alo Matoto, and the Minister of Sport, the Hon. Tu'ivakano, as well as inspecting the various facilities and venue plans for the 2015 Games.
Having been to Solomon Islands in early July, the Council will undertake its final bid visit to Papua New Guinea in early August before the annual general meeting of the Council makes its decision on the host country for the 2015 Pacific Games in Rarotonga on 27 September.
