Following a day of unprecedented turmoil around professional sports, major events, and the impact of Covid-19 (Coronavirus), members of the Junior Committee have discussed the immediate and ongoing impacts on the Club.
At the time of writing, and understanding the fluidity of the situation, we believe the statement from the EFNL yesterday remains applicable to our Club (www.efnl.org.au).
In short, training will still be held at Mullauna College on Sunday, with coaches advised to minimise huddles, players to bring their own drink bottle, and avoid unnecessary physical contact. The BBQ and She Brews Coffee will be given the week off.
We are aware that various sports have cancelled play this weekend, however they are played in confined spaces, with large numbers of people gathering in those confined spaces at one time. We consider outdoor training with sensible coaching management to be different circumstances. The State Government have asked the Community to exercise caution, but go about activities as normal.
As a Club, we take the threat of Coronavirus seriously, and we also take the emotional wellbeing of the children seriously. We do not want to unnecessarily add to the uncertainty, confusion, and fear currently being experienced by some kids.
As is the case with the Extreme Weather Policy, parents can exercise their right to remove their child from participating, with the courtesy of advising their coach or team manager of such action.
We ask that any Community member displaying symptoms of Covid-19 self isolate for a minimum 14 days, advise their team manager and/or coach, and seek appropriate medical advice.
Please respect that this is written with the best intentions for the whole Club, particularly the welfare of the children.
Regards,
Anthony Grace
President
