Under 8 Yellow (Coach: Josh McConnell)
This week Mitcham Yellow played a strong East Ringwood Blue. The Tigers were quick off the mark with a great team clearance out of the middle, which resulted in a great goal to Josh Dakic within the first 20 seconds. The team play this week was outstanding again with a number of great handballs to set up a teammate who was in a better position. We had match winners all over the ground including 2 or 3 of the East Ringwood boys when they played as Tigers for a quarter. It’s great to see them playing with us and giving it their all. We are always so happy when these kids kick a goal or take a great mark as it shows they just love football and will get amongst it no matter what. The first Two Brothers Café award this week went to Thomas Linett who always listens to instructions no matter the position he’s placed. Our second Two Brothers Café award went to Thomas “Woody” Woodhead for his determination to get to the bottom of every pack he can. The first of the Pannelins Café Ice Cream Sunday award went to Josh Dakic who loves his footy, has amazing skills and is great to watch. The second Pannelins Café Ice Cream Sunday Award went Ryan McConnell for his high-flying marks and continued hard contest at the ball. Mitcham’s Encouragement Medal and player of the week this week went to Charlie “Chopper” Wilson. Charlie has been playing some great football this year and today he busted open many packs, took some great marks and setup teammates up with creative handball. Next week will see us play Montrose Red at 10:30. This will be another tough game, but with the confidence in each other now in full swing, the boys will have a great game.
Under 8 Black (Coach: Jeff Kane)
The Under 8 Mitcham Black boys were up against a very drilled team in East Ringwood today who showed their strength around the contest by dominating the clearances early. The Tigers were great at getting first to the ball with some very good kicking by Marco who had a day out today. The shackles were broken in the third quarter and our mids gained control, which helped our forwards namely Cooper, Tarren and Rishi dominate the quarter. Great to see Roy and Ned getting their hands on the ball with some beautiful kicking deep into our forward line. A hard fought game by the Tigers today with our best player Jett getting the medal. Jett who loves being our premier ruckman and had some great plays today. Marco was also recognised by East Ringwood today, with the opposition coach awarding the young fellow a Medal, well done Marco, you created some good play and kept the East Ringwood defenders on their toes. Marco is stamping his authority in the Tigers forward line. Other players who got awards today were Cooper, Rishi, Mason, Marco, Joel and Roy who all had a great day on the park and some awesome goals to Rishi and Cooper. Well-done boys. Next week’s game is against North Ringwood Black (Saints) at 9.30am.
Under 9 Yellow (Coach: Mark Butler)
In perfect conditions on the MCG of the East our boys took on another Lightning Premiership winner in Blackburn White. With the tenacious Caden Sleap as skipper and a great week of training we were ready to take on our local rivals. In a high quality and fiercely contested game, the tiger boys were composed under pressure and were tremendous at running the ball forward. After some adjustments at how we defend the opposition, we were able to gain ascendancy around the stoppages and get some quality shots on goal. Well done on a tiger tough game boys! The medal went to "Hollywood" Heath Fox for another outstanding running game, the Two Brothers meal voucher went to Alexander Parigi for a great game in the ruck and key positions, the Buffet Hut award went to Riley Downes for a disciplined and skilled game and the Panelen award went to James "Jimmy" Wilson for a great all round game and for carrying out instructions.
Goals: Heath Fox 2, Max Irvine, James Wilson, Ty Crupi
Under 9 Black (Coach: Peter Ajani)
Mitcham Black played Lysterfield in a very tight contest. All the boys followed the instructions of keeping their feet and looking for their teammates. Despite winning all the clearances in the first quarter we just could not convert into goals. There we special efforts by Patrick, Noah,Tong and Nay, which saw us, continue to create a contest. The boys played really well for the whole game. We will continue to rotate the boys through all the positions and develop the boy’s team play. Even though the lack of goals you can clearly see the improvement in the game play.
Under 10 (Coach: Bard Aujard)
Today saw the Under 10s venture to Pinewood Reserve to take on Waverley Blues for the second time in 3 weeks. It was a well-fought encounter seeing both team tussle for a favorable result. The Tigers received a rev up at half time and came out firing kicking three goals in the last half.
Goals: Hamish, Jacoby and Samuel
Awards: Samuel, Ryan M, Ethan and Christian.
Under 11 (Coach: Sandi Marini)
Today we faced Lysterfield at their home ground. A chat with the boys before the game ensured that we were going to make our presence felt early. What followed was to script. A complete 4-quarter effort went on display. Luke slammed on 5 captain goals while George and Liam provided plenty of support, talk and leadership around the ground. Hudson proved a headache once again for the opposition whilst Oscar, Sam, Charlie W and Jordan all put scores on the board. Steven and Charlie B impressed in the middle late while James put in a great effort returning from injury. I was also impressed with the respect the boys showed to Lysterfield after inflicting a 100-point win.
Best. Luke, Hudson, Oscar, Sam, George, Liam.
Final Score: Mitcham 15.12.102 d Lysterfield 0.1.1
Under 12 (Coach: Jason Philactides)
Congratulations to three of our boys - Jasper, Jamie and Mason on playing their 50th game today. It’s been great seeing these boys develop over the years and make some great friendships at the club. As much as the game of footy is about winning, it also equally important developing social and potential life long friends. Today was great to see the team line up and cheer the boys on as they ran through the banner. Unfortunately it wasn't a win today for the boys, but I am proud of them, as they are all great kids. Zac has been a great addition to the team this year. His ferocity and desire to win the ball on every contest he goes to is a pleasure to watch. As his footy skills continue to develop, I think in years to come he will be an outstanding player. Denzell is such a classy and skillful player and today saw him have his best game for the year yet. He played with flair and creativity today and I hope we see a lot more of Denzell's skills on show for the remainder of the season. Well done to the two boys on their awards. Goal kickers - Nathan, Denzell, and Sasha.

Under 12 Girls (Coach: Ruby Schneider)
We played Norwood at Whitehorse Reserve on a fantastic sunny morning. The girls showed a lot of fight in the first half and their attack on the football and tackling was a huge improvement. The game was in the balance at half time with Norwood leading 3 goals to 1. In the second half, Norwood were able to kick away booting 6 goals to 1. Lucy D had her best game of the season getting plenty of touches including setting up a goal for Chloe. Meg had a great game as well, racking up plenty of stats. Steph and Riley also both put in solid efforts all day.
Final Score: Norwood 9.7.61 d Mitcham 2.1.13
Under 13 (Coach: Mark Ross)
The U13's played "The Basin" who were sitting on top of the ladder undefeated. The Tigers came to play today, the warm up was "switched on" and our first quarter reflected that by leading at the first break. The second quarter we continued to be desperate around the ground and at half time the scores were level. Unfortunately we could not keep up the pressure on the opposition and conceded 4 goals in the third quarter and 3 in the last. Overall though to restrict a quality opposition to only 9 goals for the game was a great effort. Everyone stepped up today and the coaching staff couldn't be more pleased with the endeavour and effort the boys put up all day. Goal kickers were singles to Wil Drake, Ethan Wu and Jamie with the encouragement awards going to Geromi who was solid in defence all day and to Louis who contested and drove the ball forward all game.
Final Score: The Basin 9.9.63 d Mitcham 3.5-23
Under 14 (Coach: Shane Dickson)
The U14 team played Blackburn and were comprehensively beaten on the scoreboard, but showed plenty of fight with their tackling and aggression at the ball. Jac Semple & Jarrod Cumming tackled & applied pressure whilst Corey Josh & Ethan provided plenty of run & carry.
Awards: Corey Dickson & Ethan Lang
Best: Jac Semple, Jarrod Cumming, Matthew Goodieson, Josh Melville, Matthew Makao & Corey Dickson
Goals: Ryan Lynch, Matthew Cost, Julian Hopkins, Corey Dickson.
Final Score: Blackburn 22.15.147 d Mitcham 4.1.25
Under 15 Girls (Coach: Luke Smith)
The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the canteens dim sims were hot and had more pork than cat in them, so a red letter day for all. The party Saturday night must have been a doozie cos we were very flat from the start. Kilsyth rolled up to play and quickly jumped us, leaving scores about even at the main break. After a stern talking to at half time and a much needed attitude readjustment we took to the field with a much-improved outlook. Second half action saw the best looking side ever to take to the MCG of the east roll up their metaphoric sleeves and get stuck in. Leading from the front, Cat played her best game ever with great support from Lexy, Bridget, Liv.c, Chelsea and Alice. The mighty Tiges ran out winners by about 3 or 4 goals. Goal kickers Lexy 3, Cat 1and Bridget 1. Best attempted set shot at goal of the year goes to Liv C for her fantastic effort in the third quarter with the ball going at right angles to the goals and ending up over the fence….lol. I must say I was a little disappointed in the fake tan to non tan ratio this week, now is not the time to let yourselves go with the weather to turn at any time the fake tan, perfect make up and curled eyelash might start getting beyond us once the winter hits, we must maintain our title as best looking side at Mitcham and I hear some of the under 17 boys are having crack at the title and are turning up with a man bun and oompa loompa tan.
Final Score: Mitcham 5.8.38 d Kilsyth 2.1.13
Under 17 (Coach: Cam Horsey)
We travelled down the freeway to take on Scoresby in what has always been a close encounter. The conditions were blowy which didn’t really favour either end of the ground, so getting off to a good start was crucial if we were to take home the points. The game was hectic from the start, but with good ball use we were able to score the first few majors of the game and at the first break it was imperative that we maintained the pressure. Our second quarter was again lacking in any control and the ferocity we showed in the first disappeared which allowed Scorseby back into the game. At the main break we asked the boys to show a bit and fight back control. We didn’t exactly come back at them too hard but we did enough to maintain a lead. The last was again on for young and old and the boys held strong with Timmy Ross, Hoppo and Maxxy putting in huge efforts to get us across the line. Injuries at the moment are hindering our efforts but the endeavour is still there. Mentions go to Timmy, Hoppo, Maxxy, James L, Sting for some big 4-quarter efforts over the day. A big congratulations also goes to Ben Ajani for his 100th game and also probably his best game in a while. Well-done Benny. Go Tiges!!!
Final Score: Mitcham 7.10.52 d Scoresby 5.7.37
