INTRODUCTION
The Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS) is now accepting nominations from athletes interested in participating in the 2018-2019 Basketball Development Program.
This program provides Hunter based athletes looking to gain further individual development competition exposure that will assist them in their chances of gaining future state team selection and higher senior representative honours. The program is now officially recognised by Basketball NSW on the individual career pathway for athletes.
BENEFITS
The following benefits will apply to athletes selected:
- Over 25 hours of on court sessions to further develop skills;
- Fitness program consisting of basic strength and conditioning;
- 6 hours athlete education in sport specific topics, such as nutrition
- & psychology;
- Targeted competition event, ClubsNSW Academy Games
- Inter-academy training sessions
- Squad training tour/camp
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for this program, athletes must be:
- Male and Female athlete from bottom age under-14s (12-years) to top age under-16s (15-years) born between 2004 – 2007.
- Registered with a Basketball NSW affiliated association competing in the NSW Country Championship League (CCL), NSW Eastern Junior League (EJL) or Northern Junior League (NJL).
- NB: The second tier of the BNSW pathway, the State Performance Program (SPP) will not be announced prior to our trials so all athletes are encouraged to nominate for DAP in the first instance, EVEN IF APPLYING FOR SPP
COST
The cost of the 2018/19 Basketball Development Program is based on the number of participants and will be calculated once the squad has been selected. A uniform levy for new athletes also applies.
DRAFT SCHEDULE
Below is a draft schedule for on-court basketball sessions for the rest of 2018. 2019 Dates will be finalised once the calendar for BNSW competitions is released. There will also be a number of off court sessions relating to athlete education, strength and conditioning added in the coming weeks.
