The General Manager role of the Maitland Basketball Association is an enormously rewarding position for a person passionate about basketball and the smooth administration supporting it. The Maitland region is the fastest growing residential area in NSW and basketball is a signature sport in the area - for the hundreds of juniors to the elite players and supporters of the marquee Maitland Mustangs, playing in the NSW Waratah Championship League Competition.

Reporting directly to the Chairman, the position involves overseeing both the management of the Maitland Basketball Association and of the 4 court Federation Centre.

You will be charged with growing the accessibility and take up of basketball in the region in a fiscally responsible manner though strategic planning, engaging with the wider community of potential users and stakeholders, commercially aware business development and effective marketing of the top class facility. 

To be truly effective and deliver great outcomes for the Association, your experience with managing basketball operations will include

• a great understanding of profit and loss management 
• an attitude mirroring the values and goals of a community minded not for profit organisation
• effective and efficient facility management
• the ability to lead and develop a small core of staff and an army of volunteers
• inspired leadership and communication skills

Managing the operation of a sporting facility involves establishing your support patterns around user needs, so weekend and non-standard hours will be required to be worked whenever the facility is being utilised.
