MUSTANG UNDER 18 MEN TAKE TO BATHURST

Maitland U/18M2 blitzed the Country Championships by being the only Maitland Team making it to the Grandfinal across the whole of the Country Championship weekend. Supporters came from all over to cheer on the Mustangs and show A 1 support.  The Mustangs had great Coaching from the Phenomenal Phill Hitchcock with his special secretive plays and skilful approach, he got the kids to the Grandfinal and they did him proud.  It was reported also the team were thankful to their mate and fellow Mustang Rockin Roo Edwards for his great support and helpful hints in the finals.

It was said all weekend the boys played their hearts out. Their birthday boy Tornado Tommy Goodridge pivoted and spun until the Sun went down, there was no stopping him, and the debris he collected on the way.  Amazing Angus White, it was reported he was killing it under the post, stay out of this boys way when he is in the key, he will walk right over the top of you. Slippery Sammy Winter, OMG the crowd went crazy when this kid ran mid court, he was making it rain, no getting the ball from him when he was on the run and the 3 pointers well it goes without saying. Nitro-glycerine Nathan Presland, when he breaks he explodes, there’s no catching him, he left the opposition for dust and rebounds were his. This kid can jump to the sky. Incredible Isaiah Ryan, it was reported this kid did not stop all weekend; he was shooting baskets from every angle and cleared the key every time to make it his own.

Our contacts also reported that:                                                                                                      Jumpin Jack Hitchcock had some hard falls and got back up every time, there’s no breaking this kid, he will go all day and will not give any opposition player room to move he’s mean and hard. Hurricane Hadiah Hartigan it was reported that the opposition had no hope with his fantastic defensive play and when he went up to shoot, he didn’t miss, he cleaned up with 100 kilometre an hour winds. Awesome Aden Murphy blocked like no other, if you run into him expect to fall on your butt, it was said he had the best block over the whole weekend, stay away from this kid, and his freak 3 pointers, this boy is one to watch. Jupiter Joe Lodge, (chief of the gods) this kid didn’t stop, he was shooting, he was rebounding, he was defending, he was running, he was unstoppable.

Other reporters at the Stadium also observed Manager Joyful Jill Rae being concerned the Queanbeyan Coach had a louder voice then her, however Tornado Tommy Goodridge reassured her that the Queanbeyan Coach had nothing on her. Then all was ok and settled on the bench.  It was also said Parents were grateful to the Ravishing Ryan’s for doing Score Bench Duties all weekend; it was quoted by one parent as saying how much they loved them for doing so.

The Parents included in the thanks were: The Great Goodridge’s,The Wise White’s, The Magnificent Murphy’s, The Lovely Lodge’s, The Wonderful Winter’s, The Precious Presland’s, The Heartfelt Hitchcock’s & The Huggable Hartigan’s.

The Mustangs spoiled themselves by eating out Saturday and Sunday nights.  It is said that the Dashing Douggy Winter drove all over Bathurst looking for places to eat and collected business cards to evaluate the best of the best for the Mustangs. Saturday they were seen at the Schnitzel Bar at the Waratah Hotel main street in Bathurst, when on finishing their beautiful meal, Saucy Sharyn Ryan voiced she knew of an Ice Cream shop up on the corner, so they all walked the main street in Bathurst to get their Ice Cream.             It was then reported most went back to their Mount Panorama rooms after a great meal and long day, however the Dashing Douggy Winter, Joyful Jill Rae and Jolly Jen and Crafty Craig White all dragged their kids for coffee.  After a great night of eating and chatting they too returned to their Mount Panorama rooms for rest.  Sunday night, again the Dashing Douggy Winter booked a great venue to eat for both Maitland Mustangs teams where the players could meet up with their mates and the parents could meet up with their friends.  Informants reported they ate at the Irish Pub in George Street Bathurst.                                   Both Teams and Families were present and had a wonderful time and congratulated each other on how well Maitland was doing at Country.  Slippery Sammy Winter made a lovely speech about Joyful Jill Rae and the Phenomenal Phill Hitchcock, and presented them with a thankyou gift from the team, it was said Joyful Jill Rae knew Luscious Louie Winter was behind the gifts.                                                                              It was said however there were two great highlights of the night one was the comedian activities of one Fantastically Funny Fran Edwards. And the other highlight, a landing from the Luscious Louie Winter and Kind Kaity Winter.

Funny Fran Edwards shared her wonderful adventures with her Son Rockin Roo on their venture to the Stadium from Mount Panorama, it was said Funny Fran trusted her trusty Tom Tom for directions and they ended up a good 50 kilometres round trip to the stadium when it was only 2 kilometres away.

It has been reported the Leyland Brothers have nothing on their venture. It was also said that Funny Fran left Avis morning tea in an esky in the rental car boot for the staff on Tuesday, what a woman! The Dashing Douggy Winter, Joyful Jill Rae and Easygoing Evan’s had to plead for her to stop so they could draw breath from laughing so much.

It was reported at 8.40pm The Luscious Louie Winter and Kind Kaity Winter walked through the doors of the Irish Pub. Everyone was amazed and also commending Luscious Louie and Kind Kaity for their decision to drive to Bathurst.  The Dashing Douggy Winter’s face lit up seeing his girls. Luscious Louie is the boy’s number one supporter and was quoted as saying “she would not have missed it for the world” – Kind Kaity had lost her Semi that afternoon and not without good effort and great playing, as soon as it was over at Newcastle they were on the road to Bathurst – now that’s dedication. It was also observed Luscious Louie saying, Kind Kaity had thought she saw lightning, however it was an RTA Camera taking their photo.

It was also reported sadly missed was their number 4 Cutey Craig Goodman, he took up important referee duties for the state and he did the team and club proud.

Joyful Jill Rae was interviewed and had these words to say:

It was an absolute joy on the weekend, everybody had a lovely time and the boys were fantastic, it was a pleasure to be the water girl and help Phill out when needed.

As I get to know the boys more, they are so funny and have a great sense of humour, I care very much for each of them and I am so proud at the way they played and put in over the weekend.

Thanks for a great weekend boys and congratulations on making it to the Grandfinal.

And a big thank you to Parents who also made the weekend enjoyable, we truly are a great bunch.
