AFL Quebec Round 7 this Sunday the 11th August 2013 in St Anne De Bellevue, West Island.
Bombers v Dockers
Big game for the Bombers!! They are sitting in last place and they need a win if they want to have any chance at finishing in the top 2. They have a surprise Australian and Canadian inclusion and he might be able to swing the tide in this game. Zac Strevens, Kevin Barranco ...and David Boulderice are all back for the Bombers making this one of the strongest sides they’ve had all season. Ali Telya, now free from his religious constraints will be able to drink water and we’ll see the Indian powerhouse at work throughout the day. News isn’t all rosy for the Bombers with Captain Paul Fairbrother, star Frenchman JF Bouron and veteran Robert Gordon both out this week.
The Dockers are on a roll. They have only lost one game this season and they are on a simply on a tear of late. Last week they beat an admittedly shorthanded Demons team fairly easy and they were without rookie of the year contender Matt Priess. Tomorrow they will have him back along with a few more faces according to burly Irishman Ronan Shaughnessy. He didn’t want to divulge too much information as to keep the Bombers on the back foot. If the grapevines are any indication, Guy Joel is inching ever closer to a return as his knee continues to heal. Duffman, John the Brit and Anna all seem to be missing in action but they might have some addition from across the border!
For sheer numbers, the Bombers should go over the top and win for the first time against their long-time rivals.
Eagles v Demons
The Eagles are playing at home this weekend which means that they will have big numbers out. They have a big inclusion in Matt Davidson which means that his little helper Cesar will also be there and they are big additions to an often undermanned squad. Remi Mathieu and Tony Cunningham are also back for the Eagles who are going to be very strong in the middle! Look for Tony to take on French star Clement in the middle for what announces to be a battle for the ages. Aussie star Eliot Kempster is still missing in action as he decided to take on the wilderness of upper Quebec. Marc St Germain and Sean Smallwood are also late withdrawals for the Eagles but Captain Matt Payne has been tight lipped about which of his West Island boys are coming tomorrow.
The Demons have their core of players all there for tomorrows clash against the Eagles with a very short inclusion in firecracker Marty Lawless who has been warned that another burst of anger might result in a sending off. Mysterious Torontonian Kyle Sakaguchi is also back from his trip back to the motherland which means that the Demons are in for a chance. Rumor has it that Nathan Jacobs is back in the dog house for this weekend which means that he will probably miss the game. Dan Robinson is also one week away from returning to the first team after spending a few weeks in the 2s. Star Canadian full forward Kyle Graham might also return for the Demons who need to win in order to get back in the top 2.
Prediction : The Shady Punter thinks that the West Island Eagles will be too strong for the Demons to handle on this day.
Good Luck to all involved and hope for a great weekend of footy
