Bombers v Dockers
The Grand Final rematch Part II, also features the two teams that lost last round. The last time these two teams met, the Dockers simply rolled over the Laval Bombers in convincing fashion. However, this week’s game is going to be played in front of the Bombers fans and you can be certain that they’ll make themselves heard throughout the match. The Bombers are still without star back man Josue Gavidia who is still having trouble with his Achilles. Chris Wienand is going to make his long awaited return to the Bombers lineup giving the team another fast and strong player. Even though the Dockers lost last round, they played very well against a determined Demons side. They are going to be eager to avenge the loss. They will still be without Rising Star winner Guy Joel, but will regain Mr.Anderson to strengthen their already stacked team. Ronan Shaughnessy is also doing the Tough Mudder on Saturday which means that he’ll probably still be on the course come Sunday so expect the Dockers to be short one. Last rounds conditions didn’t benefit the tall Bombers team, if the game is to be played in the wet, the Shady Punter believes that the Dockers should have the advantage going into the game.
Eagles v Demons
Both these teams are coming off surprising performances in horrible conditions last round. The Demons will be out there trying to prove that their win was no fluke while the Eagles will want to challenge the Dockers at the top of the ladder. The Demons got some much needed help last week with the inclusion of star Aussie Dan Robinson, but will suffer greatly this week as leading goal kicker Kyle Graham has decided to take a leave of absence while he contemplates which new shoes he’s going to get. Can the Demons find another scoring threat? Will it be Robinson, Coach O’Farrel, ex-goal scoring champion Micheletti or Frenchman Coste? If the Eagles field their strongest team then they should roll over the Demons with star Aussies Davidson and Kempster. Matt Payne and Sean Smallwood, who have both recently been selected to play for Team Canada in Edmonton will also want to prove that the selection was no fluke. The Shady Punter has to go with the Eagles on this one. The Demons need to find a scoring threat or they will be in for a long day!
